KENNYSBOOKCLUB: Act like a lady, Think like a man

words by kenny Adaba

Welcome to the April edition of the Kennysbookclub! For people reading my blog for the first time, Kennysbookclub is a monthly post on kennysdiary where I review a book we read together for that month.

This month’s choice of book is “ACT LIKE A LADY, THINK LIKE A MAN” by Steve Harvey.

First of all, based on personal opinion, I will rate this book a 10 out of 10.

ACT LIKE A LADY THINK LIKE A MAN, I would say is one of the best books that has been written to help women understand men and relationships.

The reason I will recommend this book for all ladies, is because Steve Harvey has given women a valuable information on how to increase peace in their home and relationships. In this book, he has also stated ways to tell if a man is ready to commit.

A lot of myths were mentioned in the book, and one of them Is “Men don’t approach strong women because they are intimidated by them”. However, Harvey has used this book to debunk this myth and stated that men are in fact, happy for your success and it doesn’t anger them or turn them off.

Steve Harvey in this book, gave a decade by decade breakdown/guide on what’s on the mind of men regarding relationships in other to show women what it takes for a man to get into a marriage state of mind. i.e., “A man in his twenties, is still discovering the cornerstones of manhood, who he is, what he does and how much he makes.”

Upon all the advice given to women on how to understand a man, Steve Harvey did not hesitate to also let women know when they should leave a relationship that’s not benefiting them. “don’t hold on to hope that is absolutely hopeless”.

“There are plenty of good men ready, willing and capable of doing right by you if you let them” – Steve Harvey.

CORONAVIRUS: My Quarantine Routine

With no doubt, I am certain we are all aware of what is going on in the world right now. The PANDEMIC!

Clearly, coronavirus has stopped a lot of us from doing what we enjoyed doing. that is, going to work, school, partying, and travelling. Which in turn, as made majority of us develop a new routine altogether.

Since coronavirus, my routine has changed drastically. Which will be listed below.

Starting from when I go to bed, I go to bed around 1AM, then wake up at around 9:20AM. Within the period I am awake and still in bed, I grab my phone and read my daily devotion using the bible app on my phone. After I finish with my devotion, I go through my social medias, I reply messages, check my emails, etc… once I finish doing this, I read my monthly book and the one I am currently reading at the moment is “ACT LIKE A LADY THINK LIKE A MAN” make sure you are following Kennysbookclub on Instagram to keep up with my monthly book updates. Moving on, I try to do some exercise, but genuinely, I’ve not been consistent with that so I will not elaborate on it. After I finish reading my book, I get something to eat and head back to bed again LOL! 😊 Now that I am back in Bed, I grab my laptop and do some research for my uni work. I am currently working on a 12,000 words dissertation and since quarantine, I have made the habit of writing 500 words a day. So therefore, every day I am a step closer to finishing my dissertation. Whoop! Whoop! By 11:30AM I am done with my 500 words and I just save my work and put my laptop away safely. once I finish doing all of this, I lay under the duvet pick my phone up and do some promotions for my blog, book club, and my phone case business. Then, I literally just stay in bed until 1-1:30PM before finally getting out of bed to do some house chores and cooking. Later, I sit in the living room, listen to the news or watch some movies on Netflix until I get tired and no to forget in between, I try talk a walk to the corner store or anywhere nearby.

Ps: I take my shower and do my skin care routine later at night before heading to bed (:

RELATIONSHIPS: Relationships are confusing

Relationships are confusing because they involve humans and humans are the must confused species.

Its so confusing to know for a fact what an individual actually thinks of you or feels for you. One minute they act like you mean the world to them, then turn around and act like you are nothing.

Sometimes, its like you are so important to them and then its like who are you? Why do people have to care less or let’s say, why do you have to lose someone for you to realise what you had? Why is it that at the beginning of the relationship, they give their 100% effort and as time goes on, this effort starts fading away?

There are lots of reasons as to why relationships are confusing and complicated. However, the best thing to do is to communicate.

A strong communication skill will make it easier to deal with conflict and create a stronger and healthier bond.
